A young man from Harlem is now taking on the streets of Los Angeles after landing a role as “Mr. Everything” in the newest popular Netflix film “Hustle,” starring Adam Sandler and Queen Latifah.
The film follows a basketball scout, played by Adam Sandler, who is trying to find his way back into the NBA when he finds a street ball player in Spain.
Elvin Rodriguez says the role fell into his lap, as he had no acting experience when someone suggested he audition because of his love for basketball.
“You know, I call it serendipity because I was just at the right place at the right time,” said Rodriguez.
Rodriguez is also part of a nonprofit called Hoopbus, that aims to bring communities across the country together through basketball. He says his main inspiration is his late great-grandfather.
Rodriguez says the role was the opportunity of a lifetime, and that it’s just the beginning.
