News 12 Sports Director Pat O'Keefe reflects on one of the biggest influences on his career as Father's Day approaches.
O'Keefe says he has worked in sports broadcasting since 2003, but his dream of having that career goes back a lot further. He says the person responsible for growing that passion within him is his dad.
A Yankees fan since 1958, O'Keefe's father is now passing on much of his knowledge on the Bronx Bombers to others. After retiring as a superintendent with the Department of Sanitation, Frank O'Keefe became a Yankee Stadium tour guide.
O'Keefe's father grew up on 238th and Katonah in Woodlawn in the 1950s and 60s. Playing games of stickball in the schoolyard with friends and watching the Yankees on television helped cultivate his passion for sports, which he would eventually pass on to his son.
