The retired corrections officer accused of shooting and killing a man inside the Borough Hall subway station will not face charges.
As News 12 reported back in March, cellphone video appears to show Officer William Groomes approaching the victim, identified as Gilbert Drogheo, and shoving him. An argument ensues before gunshots are heard.
The Kings County District Attorney's Office said that while the death is tragic, it cannot prove any charge of homicide beyond a reasonable doubt.
Rev. Kevin McCall released a statement on behalf of the victim's family saying they are saddened that there wasn't enough evidence to file charges and thanking the district attorney for investigating.
