A nonprofit organization aimed at helping teenage and single parents has opened up shop in Brooklyn.
Ginni Egan became a mother when she was just 15 years old, and has raised four children on her own. She says life threw her many challenges, but she was able to overcome them and establish a career as a registered nurse.
Egan says it is her duty to give back to other struggling parents. She started Young Parents United earlier this year, which offers health and wellness coaching, among many other services.
Park Slope resident Jasmine Rivera is a single mom who says she has been able to successfully raise her two kids thanks to support from the organization.
Young Parents United planned to host its first gala in Downtown Brooklyn Saturday night to raise money and awareness for the organization.
