Nostrand Houses tenant claims NYCHA won’t fix broken lock
A Nostrand Houses tenant claims her front door lock has been broken for days and NYCHA has yet to take action.
Drystal Holley says someone has to be home at all times since her front door won't lock, and that the front door to the building also doesn't lock.
She says she complained to NYCHA but they have yet to fix the lock, and that it was considered an emergency order but she still hasn't seen any maintenance workers.
Holley says she called multiple times but was told to contact the management office, which is closed for Presidents Day. She says she told them about the issue on Friday, which was a business day.
She says she's considering hiring a locksmith but doesn't feel like she should have to pay out of her own pocket.
Holley says she missed work on Friday and will have to miss work on Tuesday if the lock isn't fixed soon.
Repair staff came on Sunday to fix the lock, but Holley says they didn't have one of the parts. Sources from NYCHA tell News 12 the door can be locked safely from the inside now and staff will follow up with Holley for permanent repairs.
