Dozens of Brooklyn residents rallied in Flatbush Gardens Saturday to take a stand against gun violence.
Students and parents participated in the fourth annual "Not in My Hood" anti-violence conference.
The event kicks off Gun Violence Awareness Month, and focuses on ways to reduce violence in all five boroughs.
Several elected officials stopped by the event to say that anyone, young and old alike, can help play a part in the push for safer streets.
Gama Droiville, a 13-year-old who was shot in the eye in East Flatbush two weeks ago, served as the event's grand marshal.
After the conference, students marched to a resource fair, where they learned more about anti-gun violence, job opportunities, summer youth programs and other educational resources.
