Nurses are heading to picket lines Monday as contract talks with private hospitals remain unresolved over the weekend.
Nurses from Montefiore protested Sunday in Scarsdale, Westchester County. The New York State Nurses Association is calling on Montefiore’s CEO to return to the bargaining table.
Union leaders said they remain at odds with hospital executives over staffing levels, health care benefits and wages.
Nurses from NewYork-Presbyterian, Mount Sinai and Mount Sinai Morningside and West met with management Thursday and Friday, but NYSNA said little progress was made.
On Monday, NYSNA members will join civil rights leader Reverend Al Sharpton on the picket line at Mount Sinai Morningside to begin the second week of what the union calls the largest nurse strike in state history.
