NY Colombian community plans solidarity rally amid protests, violence in country over tax reforms

Family members and friends overseas have shared videos, some extremely graphic, of the protests that erupted against the Colombian government’s tax reforms.

Members of the Colombian community across New York City say they’re heartbroken over the events happening back home. Now, three New York sisters are gathering groups to participate in a large solidarity rally on Thursday--calling for the world to pay attention. 
They say their family and friends are being censored and that social media is being restricted.
Family members and friends overseas have shared videos, some extremely graphic, of the protests that erupted against the Colombian government’s tax reforms. 
The protests quickly went from vandalism to violence and bloodshed--even death. 
Colombia natives say the tax reforms will devastate people and leave many to starve. 
The rally Thursday will begin in front of the United Nations Headquarters at 3 p.m. and then will continue to Times Square.
