New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital has potentially been exposed to Legionnaires' disease, the New York State Department of Health confirms.
A spokesperson for the Dept. of Health says Legionnaires' is not spread from person to person.
The potentially lethal disease can be spread through any sort of water system, like bath water, drinking water or air conditioning units and cooling towers.
The spokesperson also tells News 12 Brooklyn that regulations required cooling towers to be tested for Legionnaires' along with drinking water in an effort to reduce potential exposure in 2015.
The investigation is ongoing.
