Some New York lawmakers are joining a nationwide call for justice in the fatal shooting of a Florida teenager last month.

Elected officials held a hoodie protest in Albany for 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, who was killed by neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman. Civil rights leaders say Zimmerman should have had his gun license revoked years ago because he was arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer in 2005.

In a leaked police statement, Zimmerman told officers that Martin punched him in the nose and began beating him. He claims he then shot the teen in self-defense.

Zimmerman has not been charged and has gone into hiding. The Black Panther Party is offering a $10,000 bounty for his capture.
