3h agoSOMOS Community Care is partnering with New York state to distribute one million vaccines in the hardest hit communities affected by the coronavirus.
The partnership between the state and SOMOS will utilize the organization’s 2,500 doctors in its healthcare network in places like churches, community centers and lower income communities of color.
The program is expected to start in a few weeks and there will be 75 medical practices in every borough but Staten Island, and will eventually scale up to 100.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo made the announcement Friday during a visit to New Settlement Community Center in the Bronx.
The center will be a pop-up vaccination site as soon as this weekend.
