NYC Ferry’s South Brooklyn route begins
The NYC Ferry's South Brooklyn route officially began Thursday morning.
The first boat left Bay Ridge around 6:30 a.m. and arrived in Red Hook at 6:50 a.m. Councilman Vincent Gentile and others gathered at the 69th St. Pier to celebrate and cheer as boats arrived.
The new route connects Bay Ridge, Brooklyn Army Terminal, Red Hook, Brooklyn Bridge Parks Pier 1 and 6 and Wall Street.
The ferry is scheduled to run every half hour on weekdays and every 45 to 55 minutes on weekends. It costs $2.75 for a single ride plus an extra $1.00 if riders bring their bike.
While residents can't use a MetroCard, commuters can buy tickets at kiosks or the NYC ferry app.
