Dr. Ashwin Vasan, New York City’s health commissioner who submitted his resignation last month, now plans to leave the office by the end of the week.
Vasan initially told Mayor Eric Adams he would resign by the end of the year but has accelerated his departure due to family concerns.
"He was very forthright, very forward – he had family issues. He has been a real champion for the city," said the mayor during Tuesday’s media availability.
