NYC hospital responds to calls for justice for new mom who died at Woodhull

Fields' fiancé told News 12 she had an emergency C-section despite her objection and added that she was conscious and responsive after the baby was born.

NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull released a statement following the death of Christine Fields, the woman who died two weeks ago giving birth at the location.
The hospital expressed its sincere condolences saying they have a, "Commitment to providing quality, dignified, culturally responsive care to all New Yorkers without exception" and, "We will continue to make advances to protect the safety and health of new mothers and address the national crisis of high rates of maternal mortalities."
Fields' fiancé told News 12 she had an emergency C-section despite her objection and added that she was conscious and responsive after the baby was born.
Both he and Field's mother left the room and returned to find out she had died. The newborn baby boy survived.
