The nurses strike across New York City has moved into its 18th day, and mediators are expected to call nurses and hospitals back to the table this week.

Nurses say they are still pushing for increased staffing levels, protections from workplace violence and higher pay. So far, they reached an agreement on one of the four key issues. New York-Presbyterian and Mount Sinai have agreed to maintain nurses' healthcare benefits while the two sides remain at odds regarding the other items on the table.

Striking nurses will also demand ICE out of hospitals. Vigils will be held at various strike lines, including one for Alex Pretti, an intensive care unit nurse at a veterans hospital who was shot and killed on Jan. 24 by ICE agents in Minneapolis.
