Bronx residents are bracing for a major winter snowstorm set to wallop the area Sunday.

The city is ramping up efforts ahead of time to make sure the roads are safe by spreading salt on major roadways.

The Department of Sanitation has 700 salt spreaders ready to go today. All highways, major streets and bike lanes across the city will be hit with brine as well, to mitigate the potential mess from snow and ice.

Roughly 2,000 sanitation workers are clocking in for 12-hour shifts, gearing up for the snowstorm. DSNY says they'll be working around the clock to clear roads if and when plowable snow develops.

For those who may be traveling by air, there is a risk of flight delays and cancelations. If you have plans to travel by car, remove all snow and ice completely before driving, and slow down.

A Code Blue will also be in effect this weekend. If you see anyone vulnerable in the streets, call 311. They will pick them up and bring them to the nearest shelter.
