Students who want to be vaccinated before the start of school will need to do so by Monday.
New York City Schools Chancellor Meisha Ross Porter is encouraging families to get their children vaccinated.
The first day of school in New York City is Sept. 13.
Ross Porter joined Al Sharpton at the National Action Network rally Saturday in Manhattan to speak about the “Vax To School” initiative.
She says the city is prepared to keep the children safe physically, but also have plans to keep them mentally healthy.
