The New York City subway system is marking its 110th year in operation with a bash at the New York Transit Museum.
The system opened back in 1904, when there were only 28 active stations. Today, the system has expanded to 469 hubs for travelers to use.
As part of the celebration, visitors hopped aboard vintage train cars dating back to the 1930s, riding them from the museum to the Hoyt-Schermerhorn station in Brooklyn Heights.
Gabrielle Shubert, director of the NY Transit Museum, says the subway is a vital part of the city, and acts as its circulatory system.
