The New York City Transit began inspecting the platform edges at all of its nearly 500 subway stations Thursday.
The inspections come just days after a Brooklyn teen fell through part of a platform at the Kings Highway station. The teen says he was looking to see if the train was coming when the wooden board at the edge gave way.
NYC Transit says platform safety is of the utmost importance. Inspectors plan on fixing any and all broken or missing wooden planks. They also plan on fixing the buffers at the edge of the platforms.
There is no word on how long the inspections will take or when the fixes will be complete.
