Residents inside 2628 Linden Blvd. say they have been dealing with a broken column of mailboxes inside the units for over a year.

Tenant Shante Watts says her mailbox currently has no lock and swings open, leaving her to go to a post office during a designated time to get her mail.

At nine months pregnant, she says the walk is tough, and the limited window creates long wait times for packages she cannot go without.

"I get checks, but sometimes I cannot get checks Friday or Saturday I have to wait a whole week sometimes I have to checks at the post office because I do not have time to get them," she said.

She says she is worried about getting crucial documents, including a medical insurance and WIC cards for her son, due any day, to arrive prior to her going into labor.

"That's my biggest fear is I cannot give my baby the proper care because I cannot get the cards because of this mailbox," she said.

News 12 reached out to NYCHA who said it is identified the issue with the mailboxes and is moving forward with repairs.

The current outage impacts roughly 18 units within the property.
