Alafia Harmon, a NYCHA resident at 3030 Surf Ave., told News 12 on Tuesday that she had been without heat in her apartment for six days – and has spent that time bundled up in her home. 

She has lived there for nearly 40 years and doesn’t remember another stretch of time when she had been without heat. She’s not the only one in the building who has complained of heating issues. She says neighbors have reported the temperature in their apartments falling to below 60 degrees. 

News 12 reached out to NYCHA. Shortly after leaving Harmon’s apartment, a NYCHA repair crew arrived to assess the situation.
