A maintenance employee died Saturday after a faulty hoist fell on her at the Coney Island Houses, a co-worker says.
The female worker died Saturday while working in the New York City Housing Authority building on West 32nd Street.
The chairwoman of NYCHA says the organization is "deeply saddened by the loss" of 31-year-old Toni Jackson.
Jakwon Rivers, a fellow union worker, says he was working with her at the time of the accident.
Rivers is asking for an investigation into safety practices within NYCHA.
Jackson was the mother of two children. Some of her co-workers and fellow union members visited the building to pay their respects Sunday morning, but declined to speak with News 12.
