The New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU) has settled a lawsuit challenging the NYPD practice of stopping livery cabs and frisking passengers for weapons.
The group says the city agreed to provide better training to officers in order to prevent unfair treatment of non-white passengers.
According to city lawyers, the frisks will still continue, as they have for two decades. They add that the tactic is used to protect drivers.
