The list of the worst landlords in New York City was released on Wednesday.
The
list was compiled by Public Advocate Jumaane Williams.
News 12 reported on the person who took the
No. 1 spot.
Now, we are taking a look at the landlord who ranked No. 2 on the list:
Alfred Thompson.
Thompson owns several buildings in Brooklyn, including two News 12 visited in Crown Heights.
According to the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, he has 1,285 open HPD violations.
Tenants at buildings owned by Thompson say they have chronic issues, including being without heat and hot water.
Several told News 12 they also have chronic water leaks that are either not addressed or just patched over.
"All they do is send a handyman to do patchwork, patchwork, how do you put a Band-Aid over cancer, you can't," said Luke Leblanc, of Crown Heights.
If you have a housing complaint, you should first contact your landlord first, but if the issue is not resolved, you can file a complaint by calling 311 or by
filing a complaint online.
