The NYPD says 11 people were shot in just eight hours across New York City over the weekend, including a 17-year-old who died from his injuries.

Police were still on scene in Claremont Park and the crime scene was still taped off Sunday afternoon.

It was there where police say five people were shot, including the 17-year-old who was killed.

In total, there were 11 shooting victims in that eight-hour time frame between Saturday 4 p.m. yesterday and midnight.

On both Friday and Saturday, police say there were 21 shooting victims. Compared that to the same time last year, nine people were victims of gun violence.

The shooting at the park where Little League games take place happened at around 9 p.m. Less than a day later, children were there with their families playing with the sports teams.

Parents said it's scary knowing what happened.

"As a father, we want our kids to be safe," parent Gilberto Tavares said. "We've been here for four years already, and we've had that situation happen a few times over here around the park."

Police say two additional teenagers were shot at different scenes also in the borough. In Manhattan, a man was shot near Port Authority and in Queens, a woman was shot in Far Rockaway.
