NYPD says a 14-year-old boy is dead after being stabbed inside a Manhattan subway station Saturday afternoon.

They say it happened at the 137 St. City College station in Hamilton Heights.

As of Saturday night, the entrance to the station was blocked off with caution tape and no one was allowed down.

Police say they received the call after around 3 p.m. and when they arrived at the scene, they discovered the boy who had been stabbed in the stomach on the northbound 1 train platform.

They say he was rushed to Mt. Sinai St. Lukes but it was too late.

As of Saturday night, it was unclear what prompted the young boy to be stabbed and if any sort of altercation played a role.

The investigation interrupted subway service in the area. The MTA says the 1 train was still running with delays in both directions and trains bypassed the stop where the stabbing happened as of Saturday night.

This latest fatal stabbing comes as transit crimes are up more than 52% this year.

Police held off on releasing the identity of the victim as they worked to notify his family.

There have been no arrests made in connection to the stabbing.
