NYPD: 16-year-old boy shot overnight in Bushwick

Police say they do not have a description of a suspect as they continue to investigate.

Police have confirmed a 16-year-old boy was shot late Tuesday night in Bushwick.

According to the NYPD, the shooting took place at about 9:30 p.m. on Lewis Avenue near the intersection with Myrtle Avenue.

The boy was shot once in the leg. He went to a building on Willoughby Avenue to call 911, police say. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.

Police say they do not have a description of a suspect as they continue to investigate.
