2 children injured while playing with fireworks in Sunset Park, police sources say

The incident happened just after 7 p.m. in the vicinity of 57th Street and Ninth Avenue.

Police sources say two children were injured while playing with fireworks in Sunset Park on Monday night.

The incident happened just after 7 p.m. in the vicinity of 57th Street and Ninth Avenue. An 11-year-old boy was injured in the chest and right hand and was taken to Maimonides Medical Center. A 13-year-old boy was injured in the right eye and taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County. Both are in stable condition.

It is not known how the children got their hands on the fireworks, but police are continuing to investigate the incident.

So far, there have been no arrests.
