The NYPD is asking the public to help identify the person responsible for assaulting two seniors on East 161st Street.
On Aug. 9 just after noon, a 74-year-old woman and an 85-year-old woman were approached by an individual. The suspect struck the 85-year-old in her shoulder with a bag and then punched the 74-year-old victim in the face before fleeing the scene.
Neighbors in the community say they’re shaken up and fearing for their safety in the neighborhood.
“I feel threatened, not even by my doorstep, just walking around,” said Maria, who lives in the area. “I’m 71, and I got to be really aware… there are some who look for us, who are vulnerable.”
Both victims were treated at the scene for their injuries. No arrests have been made at this time.
