A 24-year-old man was shot two times in the chest overnight in front of his home in Throgs Neck and later pronounced dead at a hospital, according to police.

Authorities say Jermy Ortega was shot at 226 Quincy Ave. A call about the shooting came in around 4:47 a.m.

A neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous, who lives down the block from the shooting says he witnessed the shots ring out and more than one person fleeing.

“I came outside and the guy that must’ve been doing the shooting come running back across the street [where] they had parked a white Honda Accord,” the man said. He says they then drove off.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are unclear. Police have yet to arrest or identify any suspects.
