The NYPD says a man was killed after being struck by a car Monday night at the intersection of 37th Street and Fort Hamilton Parkway in Kensington. An hour and a half earlier, they say a woman was struck by a truck and left in critical condition just a mile and a half away.
Police say Mohammed Hossain, 46, was crossing 37th Street when he was struck by a Honda CRV. The driver fled. They are also looking into whether he may have been struck by a second car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
“We are horrified to learn that a fellow New Yorker was struck by multiple hit-and-run drivers in Brooklyn last night – less than four miles from where another New Yorker was struck by two hit-and-run drivers only two weeks ago, and just four blocks from where a cyclist was killed last month. We send our deepest condolences to his entire community," said Elizabeth Adams, the deputy executive director for public affairs for Transportation Alternatives.
In the unrelated separate crash, police say a woman was crossing 11th Avenue near 64th Street around 9:30 p.m. when she was struck by a GMC truck. The driver stayed at the scene and no criminality is expected.
