A 74-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run late Wednesday night in Bay Ridge.

The scene unfolded around 9 p.m. at the corner of Bay Ridge Avenue and Ridge Boulevard, outside a deli.

Surveillance video from the area captured the moment a white SUV struck the man as he appeared to be crossing at the intersection. The vehicle then fled the scene.

Police say they received a 911 call shortly after the collision and arrived to find the man lying in the roadway with bodily trauma. He was transported to a hospital but did not survive.

Police have been working to locate the driver involved in the hit-and-run. The area was closed to traffic for several hours as officers conducted their investigation, including using drones to gather evidence.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident or the driver to come forward. You can call the Crime Stoppers tip line at 1800-577-TIPS. All calls are confidential.
