NYPD: 9 men wanted in connection to anti-religious hate crime in Bay Ridge

Mayor Eric Adams said there was no data to support concerns that hate crimes are on the rise due to the war overseas.

Police say nine men are wanted in connection to an anti-religious hate crime that took place in Bay Ridge just before midnight on Oct. 11.
Officials say the group of men were driving down 86th Street between 4th and 5th Avenues while raising Israeli flags. They say the group then exited the vehicle and began shouting anti-Palestinian remarks.
According to authorities, they walked up to three men ages 18, 19 and 21. They allegedly harassed the young men and assaulted the 18-year-old by kicking and punching him.
The suspects fled and the 18-year-old suffered minor injuries.
The incident is now being investigated by the NYPD's Hate Crimes Taskforce.
