Mayor Bill de Blasio and top NYPD officials announced the return of an anti-drunken driving initiative Monday ahead of the Fourth of July holiday.
The city Department of Transportation says traffic fatalities related to drunken driving increase dramatically between Memorial Day and Independence Day.
So the NYPD will step up DWI enforcement all week with increased patrols and checkpoints.
In addition to increased police presence, the Know Your Limit Campaign is also offering $10 discounts for cab and other for-hire vehicle rides until July 8.
Participating companies include Curb, Via and Lyft.
