Police arrested 46-year-old Ramon Rotestan in connection with a rape in an elevator of a residential building in the Bronx.
The incident happened around 10 p.m. Monday. Surveillance video from the NYPD shows a suspect believed to be Rotestan following a woman into a building near Bolton Street before following that woman into an elevator, where police say the woman was raped.
“The way things are now, you got to always be looking over your shoulders, you know what I mean?” said William Ponte, a neighborhood resident for nearly 40 years. “You can’t just walk like normal.”
The 40-year-old victim was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi. Police say that Rotestan also took $112 from her at the time of the incident. The suspect is currently facing charges of rape and sexually motivated robbery.
