NYPD: 20-year-old armed suspect killed in East Flatbush shooting; 19-year-old in custody

The two victims being chased were uninjured as a result of the shooting. Officers were removed to local hospitals for observation but have not suffered significant injuries.

The NYPD says a 20-year-old man who opened fire on another man and a woman in East Flatbush is dead following a police-involved shooting.
NYPD Chief Jeffrey Maddrey and NYPD officials held a news conference one block away from where four NYPD officers spotted the suspect firing multiple rounds at the two victims.
Police say the call came in just before 6 p.m. for shots fired and a dispute in the vicinity of East 57th Street and Remsen Avenue.
Police were canvassing the area for seven minutes before turning the corner and spotting the male suspect. Officers opened fire on the suspect who was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
The photo below shows the unmarked NYPD vehicle that was struck by gunfire during the incident.

Police say a 19-year-old is in custody in connection to the chase.
The motive of the shooting is currently unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.

Police say a second shooting took place in the same area, where a male in his 60s was discovered shot.
The NYPD has not determined if that shooting is connected to the incident involving the suspect who was shooting at the male and female victim.
