The NYPD and American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals are celebrating 10 years of partnership.
Tuesday's celebration featured two dogs rescued through the program. NYPD officials say the collaboration has helped over 5,000 animals.
The team says rescue efforts give a voice to vulnerable animals and New Yorkers can help as well by simply reporting abuse cases.
The event also highlighted April as Animal Cruelty Awareness Month.
