Police believe the body found on the roof of a Coney Island building may be a woman who has been missing for almost a month.
Police say the body was found on the roof of 2930 West 30th St. It was so badly decomposed that first responders say they were unable to tell if it was a man or woman at first.
The body has not been identified yet, but the building is the home of 74-year-old Crucita Alvarado, a woman with Alzheimer's who went missing on Aug. 12.
Alvarado's family says they have spoken with detectives and are waiting to see if it is her. The medical examiner will determine the identity and cause of death.
