A Williamsburg boy who has been hand-delivering thank you cards to police officers got a chance to meet NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton Thursday.
Zachary Becerra, 7, wanted to thank officers for their service in the wake of the murders of Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos, who were gunned down in their patrol car last year.
Zachary's mother, Rosa Becerra, says that when her son asked her how he could help other NYPD officers mourning the tragedy, she saw a video on Facebook of an organization giving out similar thank you cards. Since then, the 7-year-old and his mother have visited more than 50 precincts.
When the police commissioner heard of the boy's actions, he planned a meeting with the boy.
A police convertible picked Zachary up at home and drove him to 1 Police Plaza to meet Commissioner Bratton.
Bratton gave the boy an NYPD jacket, and Zachary gave the commissioner a handmade card.
