A police response to a stabbing in East Flatbush turned into two emergencies overnight — a crash and an ongoing search for a suspect.
Police say it started just before midnight when a 33-year-old man was stabbed inside a building at 165 Rockaway Parkway. He was taken to Brookdale Hospital with wounds to his chest and right hand. He’s expected to survive.
As officers raced to that call, their patrol car collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Clarkson Avenue and East 51st Street in East Flatbush.
Witnesses told News 12 the police cruiser was driving down Clarkson Avenue without its siren on when it struck the car heading north on East 51st Street. The impact sent the NYPD cruiser crashing into a fenced area outside a deli, bending the metal barrier. Across the street, the bumper of the other vehicle could still be seen hours later.
Police say a 21-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman inside that car were taken to Brookdale Hospital and are stable. The officers involved were also treated at a hospital and are expected to be OK.
Right now, no arrests have been made in connection to the stabbing. Police are still searching for the man they believe carried out the attack.
