A crash involving an EMT smart car left a 19-year-old man critically injured in Midwood, according to police.

Authorities say a 39-year-old volunteer EMT was driving the vehicle with emergency lights when it crashed into Avenue P and McDonald Avenue.

The man was hospitalized for treatment. Police say the driver remained at the scene of the crash.
