An active-shooter training exercise was held by several agencies at Kingsborough Community College Sunday morning.
The exercise started at 6 a.m. inside the Leon M. Goldstein High School for Sciences. The NYPD, FDNY, the Office of Emergency Management and the Department of Homeland Security took part in the exercise.
Its purpose was to better prepare law enforcement and other first responders for a potential terrorist attack or active-shooter situation.
The event used the campus as a staging ground for a scenario involving multiple active shooters with improvised explosive devices, or IEDs. The exercise was meant to be as real as possible, with every scenario accounted for.
More than 200 people participated in the event.
