Police responded to a 911 call on Tuesday evening for a report of human remains found near the Riegelmann Boardwalk in Coney Island.

The NYPD says an apparent human skull was discovered in the bushes by the boardwalk, between West 32nd Street and West 33rd Street.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is assisting the NYPD in the investigation.

Authorities have not yet identified the remains as male or female.
