The NYPD invited New Yorkers to celebrate their different communities across the city for National Night Out.

All across the country, police and the neighborhoods they serve gathered on Tuesday for the annual celebration that takes place on the first Tuesday in August.

News 12's Shniece Archer was in Flatbush for a National Night Out celebration. Residents say that these nights are some of the safest they ever feel.

Bronx residents also joined together with the 47th Precinct to celebrate. On Grenada Avenue, kids, vendors, and law enforcement came together to enjoy the summer weather and hand out information on the resources that their local precinct has to offer.

National Night Out was introduced in 1984. The national event has been bringing communities and law enforcement together for a night of activities, food and an opportunity to build positive relationships.

Over 70 police precincts across New York City held their own respective celebrations.
