The NYPD Hispanic Society hosted an event at Van Cortlandt Park Saturday for Autism Awareness Month.
The goal was to raise funds for families within the NYPD who need support for their children with autism, and for the organizations One Blue Heart at a Time, With Arms Wide Open and Magnify Autism.
The day included a walk, field activities and prizes and toys for children.
The event is a collaboration between the NYPD Hispanic Society and other NYPD associations.
The Hispanic Society says they hope the event helps connect communities to the resources they need.
They plan to continue raising autism awareness at more events in the future.
