NYPD: Hit-and-run on Melrose Avenue leaves woman dead

The driver of the Cherokee fled the scene while the 53-year-old driver of the Wrangler remained.

A woman crossing a street in Melrose Saturday night was fatally struck by two cars.
Authorities say that around 7:12 p.m., 53-year-old Lourdes Camilo was crossing the street at Melrose Avenue when she was struck by a Jeep Cherokee and thrown into traffic where she was struck again by a Jeep Wrangler. Camilo was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
The driver of the Cherokee fled the scene while the 53-year-old driver of the Wrangler remained.
News 12 crew at the scene witnessed a young woman saying that the victim was her mother. She and a man tried to get to the body but were restrained by police.
Police say that there are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
