A man accused of throwing a dog from a balcony in Crown Heights is now facing animal cruelty charges.
It happened at an apartment building on Montgomery Street and Bedford Avenue. Police say on the morning of Nov. 1, 33-year-old Alberto Morris got into an argument with one of the residents, and during the dispute, threw the resident's young pit bull from the 14th-floor balcony. The dog died from its injuries.
"That makes me tear up," says Melissa Evans, a local dog sitter and walker. "I don't know what kind of evil people have in their hearts."
Morris was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and aggravated cruelty to animals.
He is now out on supervised release, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office.
