NYPD: Man escapes police custody from Lincoln Hospital

Officials say the suspect's name is Jose Lopez and he is described by police as 5 foot, 11 inches and weighing 170 pounds.

The NYPD says that a man escaped their custody while at Lincoln Hospital Thursday afternoon.

Officials say the suspect's name is Jose Lopez and he is described by police as 5 foot, 11 inches and weighing 170 pounds. Sources say that Lopez was in custody and being treated for a leg injury when he escaped.

Authorities say he was arrested on Aug. 29 and he is currently facing more than a dozen charges, including possession of a controlled substance and violating traffic laws.

The NYPD encourages anyone with information on Lopez's whereabouts to call the Crime Stoppers Tipline at 1800-577-TIPS.
