Police say a man was fatally stabbed Saturday morning inside of a residential building in Crown Heights.
The NYPD says the man was stabbed multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene. Police didn’t detail what led up to the stabbing or any suspect information.
The man's family identified the victim as Victor Delacruz, saying he was the super at 1710 Union St.
"He was a sweet man. He loved his family,” said the victim's niece, Miguellina Meija. “He valued his time with his family over everything else. He was always cleaning and helping.”
Residents of the building and neighbors flocked to the lobby of the building to light candles and grieve together.
"This man was more than just a super. This was a man that was loved by the whole community and would make people’s day with just a smile and a hello he will be missed by everyone," said Victor Sanchez, who lives two buildings away.
Residents told News 12 that they saw a man leave in handcuffs.
