As police continue their search for three men they say slashed a 39-year-old man Saturday morning, locals share reactions to the incident.

“It’s heartbreaking,” said Gravesend resident Gladys. “I thought this was a safe area.”

Newly obtained surveillance video shows three suspects running to a nearby train station after an argument that quickly turned violent near a local bar. Police said the suspects slashed the victim in the left arm and that he was later taken to a nearby hospital, where he’s expected to recover.

A nearby barbershop owner, who asked to stay anonymous, says this isn’t common in the area.

“In all my five years of business, I’ve never seen or heard of anything like this near my shop,” the owner said.

The NYPD is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
